Rabbi Steven J. Weiler was born in Manhattan, NY and spent most of his growing years in Great Neck, Long Island. Living in a primarily Jewish town, he had never been aware of anyone in Great Neck who was a believer in Yeshua nor even shared their faith. But at age 17 he went to see the movie The Greatest Story Ever Told and his life was changed forever. Shortly thereafter he dedicated his life to serving the Lord.
Rabbi Steve spent his college years in Baltimore, MD where he received a Bachelors Degree in Music Education from Peabody Conservatory of Music. Later he received a Masters Degree in Education from Johns Hopkins University and taught at an inner-city high school for four years. During this time, he sang in various conservative synagogues and churches as well as attended Beit HaMashiach, a Messianic Synagogue.
In 1979, Rabbi Steve moved his family to Philadelphia, PA where he eventually became the principal of Chalutzim Academy- a private K12 school of Congregation Beth Yeshua. During his time at Chalutzim Academy, Rabbi Steve also served as the chief administrator, taught various courses such as "Fundamentals of Biblical Judaism", led a children's singing group called Growing Faith, made two children's Messianic music tapes and helped produce two children's musicals, led the youth program, and also led an adult singing group called "Shivat Tzion" (Return of Zion) which recorded two Messianic music tapes.
Rabbi Steve was ordained by the leadership of Congregation Beth Yeshua, blessed, and sent out to become the rabbi of Shoresh David Messianic Synagoguein Tampa on April 1st, 1999. He has always had a burden for youth, strengthening families, and having unity in the Body of Believers. Since becoming the rabbi at Shoresh David Messianic Synagogue, God has placed in him a strong desire to see his Jewish people receive Yeshua into their hearts as their Messiah.
Rabbi Steve is blessed with a wonderful wife, Pat, who leads praise and worship. They have two daughters - Rebecca who now lives in Israel and works for God TV, and Sarah who graduated from Southeastern University in 2009.
